Green Screen - Why Build A Green Screen When Your Computer Is One!
Ever since taking pictures was made available and accessible to the public, it’s been used to
capture significant memories. From copper tablets to polaroids to digital images, pictures have captured 1st
birthdays, weddings, beach trips, and so much more. But capturing memories isn’t the only thing pictures can do –
it can make memories as well.
Taking pictures have always been an enjoyable thing for this generation, taking it as a chance to
bond with friends and family. It is meant to be fun in the first place and with the advent of the green screen,
more fun is just around the corner.
This technology involves getting a green backdrop, shooting a picture of your subjects in front of
it, and then replacing the green backdrop with an image, usually a picture of a location such as the beach, a
forest, or the mountains. That’s the gist of the process, but so much more happens in between those steps.
However, with recent developments in software, you can use your computer as your own green screen.
No need to paint a whole wall green just for you to be able to use this technique – with the computer, you can
simply select your subjects and cut them out to replace their background with something else.
Most software applications allow you to use different tools to select your subjects apart from
their background. This is the first step in applying this technique by using your computer. The selection process
is also the most tedious part – you don’t want to accidentally cut off your subject’s arm or to include the tree in
the background if your new location is a beach. Thankfully, most software have been developed to make this part a
bit easier by making them “smarter” in which ones to select – though effort is still necessary. This can be made
even easier if you can take your picture’s subject in front a solid-colored backdrop. A green backdrop, usually.

After the selection, the process becomes so much easier. You can then just transfer your subject’s
image onto a new background. Would you like your brother to be in Antarctica or your sister in the Bahamas? How
about yourself in an African wilderness? All this is possible with the use of such software. With a few adjustments
such as brightness and color so that the subject and the background would match, you can print out these pictures
with ease. No need for high tech equipment, a huge green wall, or an advanced computer. Your personal digital
camera, the living room wall, and your desktop computer is all you need to make this photograph magic happen.
Taking pictures is meant to be fun. Having memories captured is just one of the many ways wherein
you can use pictures to put a smile on people’s faces. Techniques such as the green screen add even more enjoyment
to taking pictures, and having your computer do this for you would surely give you an option on what you can do
with all those picture ideas in your head. Click here for more information.
